A drenching gun draws up a measured volume of liquid and delivers it by mouth, which makes it quick to dose a flock or herd with a defined amount. It is held in one hand, and a nozzle placed in the animal's mouth delivers the dose when the trigger is pressed. Dose can usually be set by a stop or dial on the barrel.
